What makes you so unique in your industry?
It’s a combination of things. First, I’m an only child which makes me the ‘super-achiever’ type: succeeding makes me happy which is a trait of the classic ‘only child personality’. Secondly, I’m a woman in a man’s world; thirdly, I’m a right-brainer in a left-brained financial world.
What makes you a veritable changemaker?
My mixed heritage, early taste of entrepreneurship, and my degree in journalism – combined with my personality – have helped me have a very clear vision on things and stay ahead of the game. For example, in my first job I was in a team of three who were tasked with setting up a ‘no-load mutual fund’, which was something new in those days.
What leadership qualities do women have?
Having been in leadership positions for many years, I can say that in the financial industry – traditionally a man’s world – women leadership is incredibly important. We possess many undervalued traits.
